Bus Fares in Arlington to Increase Tuesday, July 1

County Board approved first fare increase since 2010.

On Tuesday, July 1, ART bus fares will increase by 25 cents for adult fares and 10 cents for senior citizens, people with disabilities and teens (w/a middle or high school ID). 

The fare for STAR Zone 1 trips (trips within Arlington County) will increase by 50 cents. 

  • ART base fare increases from $1.50 to $1.75
  • ART discounted fare for seniors, middle and high school students, and people with disabilities increases from $0.75 to $0.85
This fare increase, recently approved by the County Board, will be the first fare increase for ART and STAR Zone 1 since 2010. 

The additional revenue generated from the increased fares will help offset increased contractual costs for operation and maintenance and the cost of additional ART bus services.
