Enjoy a Dog Day Afternoon at Lacey Woods Park

The Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources will hold the 9th Annual Dogtober Day on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Want to spend a Saturday at the park with your dog, or just want to see dogs of all types frolicking in the fall weather? Stop by Lacey Woods Park (1200 N. George Mason Drive) from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, for the ninth annual Dogtober Day, organized by the Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.

Try out some Barkers' Bash games, such as You & Me Agility and Chicken Chase, with your dog, or enter your canine companion in the dog show. Show categories are Best Kisser; Most Colorful Pup; Old Dog, Great Tricks; Terrific Pet Tricks; Most Adorable (Small, Medium or Large Dog); Best Tail Wagger; Cutest Costume; Fastest Pooch (Small, Medium or Large Dog); and Best In Show.

First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded for the show categories. First- and second-place game winners also will receive ribbons. All winners will receive toys.

Pre-registrations are accepted through Wednesday, Oct. 5. Mail your check and registration form to Arlington County Park Rangers, 601 N. Manchester St., Arlington, VA 22203. On-site registration starts on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. Fees are $6 per show category or $25 for unlimited show categories. Each attempt in the Barkers’ Bash is $2.

Dogs attending the Dogtober Day event must be leashed and current on vaccinations.
