The app has maps, schedules, a social network feed and more.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee has released a free official app for attendees of the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday, as well as for those watching from home.

The app includes a schedule of events, maps, volunteer opportunities, a feed for social networking, behind-the-scenes videos and photos and a live stream available Monday for those who won't be there.

Steve Kerrigan, president and CEO of the Inaugural Committee, said in a statement the app is for Americans across the country to share in this moment in history.

"Whether you're in Washington, DC or any other part of the nation, there are plenty of ways to be involved in the inauguration through this app," Kerrigan said.

For attendees, a detailed map helps locate viewing screens, food, first aid, ADA-accessible sites, information booths, restrooms and entrance locations.

The parade map will help ticketed spectators find their area, as well as appropriate access points to the route. There's also particular information for parade viewers without a ticket.

“This is the first official smartphone app built for a presidential inauguration,” said Nate Lubin, digital director at the Inaugural Committee. “We wanted to build a tool that will enable us to reach new people in new ways.”
