Most Road Work Suspended Labor Day Weekend

Interstate HOV lane restrictions will be lifted on Labor Day.

If you’re hitting the road this Labor Day weekend, you'll be happy to know that most road work will be suspended.

Virginia Department of Transportation officials have opted to suspend lane closures on most interstates and highways from noon Friday through noon Tuesday, Sept. 3, to accommodate holiday traffic.

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) restrictions on Interstate 66, Interstate 95 and Interstate 395 will be lifted on Labor Day. Normal HOV restrictions will be in place on Friday and Tuesday.

Drivers can also check real-time traffic information by using the VDOT 511 free mobile app, website, or calling 511 from your landline or cell phone.
