The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing on Monday unveiled the renovated Buchanan Gardens Apartments in Barcroft, just north of Columbia Pike.
The $32.4 million renovation project will house 111 families. It's designed to be affordable for families making up to $60,000. The complex is nearly completely leased. About 70 percent of its former tenants returned.

Cost was almost $300,000 per unit. Most of those who did not return had too low an income to qualify for the "affordable" housing. Or they were students, unpaid interns, and others who don't generally meet the requirements to live in "affordable" housing. I don't understand why the local media, which heavily recruits interns, supports such exclusionary housing.
