Sen. Tim Kaine Stands Up for Marriage Equality

Urges constituents to 'make our voices heard' prior to ruling by 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Richmond.

Sen. Tim Kaine is urging constituents to stand up for marriage equality in Virginia. In a letter sent out Sunday, he says:

Earlier this year, a federal judge ruled that Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. The fight is now at the 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Richmond.Until it rules, same-sex couples in committed relationships are still being denied their right to marry in Virginia.

When Thomas Jefferson wrote the words "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence, he put in place a moral standard that will always challenge us to be better people. Help me honor Jefferson’s tradition by making sure that all Virginians have the freedom to marry. With the 4th Circuit set to rule soon, we need to make our voices heard now.

Will you add your name and join me in standing up in favor of marriage equality?

Virginia is ready to embrace equality. As we all come to better know our gay family members, friends and co-workers - we know that they are entitled to equality and respect.

If you agree that all of us are created equal and should be able to marry the person we love – WE need to make OUR VOICES heard!

Please add your name today and voice your support for marriage equality in Virginia.

Thanks for your help.

Tim
