Spring Hazardous Material, Electronics Collection Sees Uptick in Participation

Arlington hosted its biannual collection event this weekend.

The Arlington County Department of Environmental Services is calling its spring E-Care — Environmental Collection and Recycling Event — a success.

The biannual event took place Saturday at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and drew 1,538 Arlington residents, according to an email from spokeswoman Laura G. Smith. That's about 200 people more than past events.

The county collected a total of 37.7 tons of household hazardous materials to dispose of and 15 tons of electronics for recycle. The amount of hazardous materials is down from what was collected in the fall; the amount of electronics is up.
