Student Design to Adorn Bus to Promote Safe/Shared Streets Initiative

Voting under way on three student designs.

One Arlington middle or high school student will soon see their design of an ART bus on county streets.

Voting is now under way in ART's "Share Our Streets — Be a PAL" contest. PAL — Predictable, Alert, Lawful — is Arlington's cycling, pedestrian and driver safety initiative. The thinking is that as more people share Arlington's streets in different ways, the more everyone needs to think about how others are using those streets.

The county's bus service held a contest for Arlington middle and high school students to design a bus inspired by that theme. ART received 26 submissions and a committee chose three finalists.

You can vote here for your favorite design.

The winning design will be announced this summer and then adorn an actual ART bus for about a year, according to a news release.
