Tuesday: Voters Decide Primary Battles for U.S. Senate, House

Republican primary to decide the party's Senate nominee; Democratic primary will determine the House candidate for November.

Voters on Tuesday will decide two congressional primaries that will determine who appears on the November ballot, sure to get plenty of attention thanks to Virginia's status as a battleground for the U.S. presidency.

Voters who choose to cast ballots in the Democratic primary on Tuesday will determine whether incumbent U.S. Rep. , a Democrat, moves one step closer to a 12th term.

Political newcomer is challenging Moran in the Democratic primary. The winner will face Republican Patrick Murray in November.

People who elect to vote in Tuesday's Republican primary will have a say in one of the hottest Senate races in the country.

That four-way contest — between Ex-Sen. , tea party leader , state Del. and Chesapeake pastor — will determine who goes up against Democrat Tim Kaine in November. Allen is favored to win, though tea party voters could pull the rug out from under him.

Shuttleworth was originally sponsored by a Texas Republican PAC, which subsequently dropped him. A USNA-grad Navy pilot has up to a fourteen-year service obligation (this is actually explicit in statutes and Navy regulations), but Shuttleworth was released after the “basic 8.” Shuttleworth has literally no local political, policy or government record at all, and hasn’t even been actively employed for much of his post-Navy civilian life. He has not articulated a single credible policy position – on anything. His campaign now is being funded by his wife’s law firm colleagues; she represents the fast-food industry in litigation. Shuttleworth has no visibile means of his own support. Shuttleworth has fraudulently claimed an affiliation with Democratic Congressional leader Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, whose campaign has completely disavowed Shuttleworth and called Shuttleworth’s actions “inappropriate.” Shuttleworth is peculiar, apparently unemployable, and has been taking liberties with the truth in his campaign.

Mark - I see that you written several different posts of this nature on Shuttleworth. It appears as if you are threatened and if not, I don't see why one would bother posting fallacious statements. You clearly have not done any objective research on Shuttleworth or contacted him to see what he is all about. I have and I was impressed. Not expecting you to do so but in case you want to get something right, his website is www.shuttleworthforcongress.org.

Moran's campaign is installing huge and illegal campaign signs on public property.

Moran's campaign stuck a huge sign in Lacey Woods Park. Outrageous.

I will not hold my nose again and vote for Jim Moran today. He has squandered major opportunities to help everyone in his district in order to serve his own interests and his pet special interests, including the financial interests of family members. What is especially aggravating - he is never seen in his district except just before an election. His district is across the Potomac from the Capitol. Other Members of Congress live thousands of miles away and visit their districts every weekend or every other weekend to meet with constituents.
