Arlington Public Schools Announces Make-Up Day Plan for Jan. 3 Closure

Select early release days will now be full instructional days.

Arlington Public Schools released the following plan to make up the time lost due to the Jan. 3 closure due to inclement weather:

Because Arlington Public Schools has lost three days in the 2013-14 school year due to inclement weather, the following is the makeup schedule:

Elementary Schools With Early Release* and the Stratford Program

Elementary Schools with Early Release will have full instructional days on the three Wednesdays and the Stratford Program on the three Tuesdays listed below to make up the day lost on Friday, January 3. Please note that December 9 and 10 do not have to be made up because additional instructional hours beyond the 990 minimum equivalent hours required by the State were built into the 2013-14 calendar. 

January 3, 2014 will be made up by the following early release days becoming full student attendance days.

Elementary Schools With Early Release

  • Wed, Feb. 19
  • Wed, April 9

The Stratford Program

  • Tue, Feb. 18
  • Tue, April 8
  • Tue, April 29

Elementary Schools with Limited Early Release**, Middle Schools and High Schools

Because of the additional instructional hours that were built into the2013-14 calendar beyond the 990 minimum equivalent hours required by the State, the three instructional days lost so far this year (Dec. 9, Dec, 10, and Jan.3) do not have to be made up.

*Elementary Schools With EarlyRelease include Arlington Science Focus, Arlington Traditional, Long Branch,Nottingham, Oakridge, Taylor and Tuckahoe.

**Elementary Schools with Limited Early Releaseinclude Abingdon, Ashlawn, Barcroft, Barrett, Campbell, Carlin Springs,Claremont, Drew, Glebe, Henry, Hoffman-Boston, Jamestown, Key, McKinley andRandolph.
