FRIDAY Snow Closings/Delays in Arlington County

Arlington Public Schools makes decision about Friday schedule, due to snow.

Due to the snow, ice and slippery streets after a winter storm hit Arlington Wednesday night, and possibly more snow expected Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service, there will be no school at Arlington Public Schools on Friday. 

Here's the announcement that went out on Thursday, late afternoon:

APS Operations Update for Fri, Feb. 14:

All Arlington Public Schools will be Closed. 

All APS Offices will open 2 Hours Late.

Essential personnel are to report to work at their scheduled time. Unscheduled leave is available for 12-month employees. Extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, adult and community education classes, and programs in schools and on school grounds are canceled. Inclement Weather Information for Friday, Feb. 14, 2014:

  • All Enjoy Arlington classes, 55+ classes, trips, nature center programs and sports league activities are cancelled.
  • Congregate meal programs located at Arlington Mill, Langston and Walter Reed are cancelled.
  • All Preschool programs are cancelled.
  • All synthetic fields are closed.
  • Powhatan Springs skate park is closed.

 

Community Centers

  • Arlington Mill will open at 10 a.m.
  • Gunston will open as scheduled at 2 p.m.
  • Carver will open as scheduled at 2:30 p.m
  • Drew will open as scheduled at 3 p.m.
  • All other community centers, including the joint use centers located at Langston and Thomas Jefferson will open at Noon.
  • The Gunston Bubble is closed.
