Yorktown Girls Tennis Wins National District Championship
Patriots finished the 2013 season 13-1.
The Yorktown High School Varsity Girls Tennis Squad has won the National District Team Championship for the sixth year in a row.
The team, which finished this season 13-1, has been No. 1 in the district for seven of the past eight years.
Players contributing to the successful season include Kai Perkuchin, Zoe Dormuth, Cathryn Speck (co-captain), Kyra Gray (co-captain), Lexi Peck, Suzanne Dolan, Rachel Cooper, Sammie Cooper, Charlotte Ruffing, Jessie Bushkoff, Reid Erickson and Alexa Coyle (co-captain). The managers are seniors Laura Misra and Carina Cerqueria.

The team also received several individual National District honors. Speck (No. 3), Gray (No. 4) and Peck (No. 5) were all awarded first team all-district honors. Dormuth (No. 2) was awarded second team all-district, and Dolan (No. 6) received honorable mention recognition.
The third doubles team of Cooper and Peck was also award first team all-district for their undefeated record. The second doubles team of Speck and Gray received second team all-district. Head coach Natalie Roy was chosen National District Coach of the Year.

Perkuchin, Dormuth, Speck and Peck also all participated in the National District end-of-the-year tournament for the top players in the district.
The Yorktown Girls Tennis Team is one of the largest high school tennis programs in the state with a travel team (varsity) of 20 players and a non-travel squad (junior varsity) of 20 players.
Helen White is the assistant coach for the team.
Natalie Roy is a Yorktown High School tennis coach.
