Bohemian Retailer Free People Opening Date Set at Pentagon City

Store will celebrate with a grand opening.

Can't wait to get your fix of bohemian chic from Free People? The wait won't be much longer.

The chain will debut its Pentagon City store on Friday, May 16, according to its Facebook page.

The store will hold a grand opening event that day, from 6-9 p.m.

The Pentagon City store's Facebook page features some of the store's newest employees — dubbed stylists — for the new store, all dressed in Free People style — think Kate Hudson in Almost Famous.

Based in Philadelphia, the store counts more than 80 locations; its brand is also sold in 1,200 retailers across the globe including the anchor stores at Pentagon City — Macy's and Nordstrom.

Free People currently has two locations in Northern Virginia — its Clarendon store at Clarendon Commons and at Tyson's Corner. The Free People Web site also shows a store coming soon to Richmond. The company opened a store in Bethesda last year.

What's the store like? Here's a Yelp review by customer Cathy D. from Burke:

"I love, love, love their clothes! So cute and hippie-ish. Too bad it's so freakin' expensive and some of their pieces are too trendy for my taste. Browsing through the store is like taking a trip somewhere else. Everything is so floraly and pretty- I even love their hangers! Their dressing room is cool as well. They have shaggy carpetting, huge drawn curtains for each dressing room and a lot of details on the walls, comfy sofas. Very colorful."

The Free People store at Pentagon City will be located between a Kate Spade store and a Francesca's Collections.
