Memorial Day Weekend Weather Forecast: Arlington and Beyond

Cooler temperatures but sunnier skies coming for the holiday weekend across Northern Virginia.

 

Summer seemed to kick into gear this week across Northern Virginia, with temperatures in the 80s under sunny skies.

But the Memorial Day weekend weather forecast in the Alexandria area calls for cooler temperatures.

Friday’s forecast has high temperatures in the low or mid-60s with a 30 percent chance of showers, particularly in the afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday temperatures will be in the low 70s under sunnier skies—the chance of rain decreases to just 10 percent.

Monday should be downright beautiful—sunny with a high temperature of about 75 degrees across the DC metro area.

Here’s the weather for some popular destinations this weekend:

Virginia Beach – Friday will bring isolated thunderstorms with high temperatures in the low 70s. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high of just 66 degrees; Sunday will be slightly warmer. A chance of isolated thunderstorms returns Monday and temperatures will be in the mid-70s.

Ocean City — Sun will turn to clouds with a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms Friday with a high temperature of 73. Saturday and Sunday will partly to mostly cloudy with a lower chance of rain and high temperatures in the mid-60s. The chance of rain increases again Monday under cloudy skies and high temperatures nearing 70 degrees.

Philadelphia — Friday has a 40 percent chance of rain with temperatures in the mid-60s. Temperatures will rise slightly throughout the holiday weekend under partly cloudy skies—high temperatures Saturday will be in the low 60s, Sunday in the mid-60s and Monday in the low 70s. There is just a 10 percent chance of rain Saturday through Monday in Philly.

New York City — Rain and thunder and wind are on tap in New York City Friday and Saturday with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s those days. The sun should return for Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s high temperatures will struggle to reach 60, but Monday should be warmer—highs in the low 70s.
