Honor Vets, Whiskey Tasting in Clarendon, Elton John in DC and More This Week

Five things in and around Arlington this week.

Honor Vets: The public is invited to join the American Legion Post 139 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3150 to mark Veterans Day at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Clarendon War Memorial (at Clarendon Central Park, behind the Metro). The event will feature the unveiling of a temporary marker to honor those locally who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, which organizers hope to one day replace with a permanent plaque. More information here.

The happy hour to benefit the Arlington Street People's Assistance Network, or A-SPAN, is from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and will feature live music and door prizes. Whitlow's will donate 10 percent of all sales during that time to A-SPAN's work with homeless veterans.

Whiskey Tasting: O'Sullivan's Irish Pub in Clarendon will hold a whiskey tasting from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday featuring Jameson ambassador Claire Gavin from Ireland. Cost: $20. More info here.
