Five things in and around Arlington this week.

Open Door Monday: Stop by the Shirlington Branch Library, 4200 Campbell Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday to talk with an Arlington County Board member on any topic. One board member has open office hours every Monday at library branches in Westover, Columbia Pike, Ballston and Shirlington. More info here.

The event features the lighting of a giant menorah at 7 p.m., a raffle for a 7-inch tablet and hot latkes, kosher hot dogs and other refreshments. More info here.

Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Freedom Plaza, between 13th Street NW and 12th Street NW in Washington. Sponsored by SOME (So Others Might Eat), this popular 5K fun run and family walk benefits programs for the homeless and helps provide more than 800 meals to the hungry every day of the year. More info here. The Arlington Turkey Trot this week is sold out, but click here for our complete guide of regional turkey trots.
