This Week: Go-Go Symphony Plays Clarendon, Fall Career Fair and More

Five things this week in and around Arlington.

Fall Career Fair: The Arlington Employment Center's Fall Career Fair is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at George Mason University's Arlington campus, 3351 Fairfax Drive. Fifty area employers will be on hand, representing government, IT, healthcare, hospitality, retail, contracting, security, transportation and other sectors. Register for the free event here.

Go-Go Symphony: The Go-Go Symphony will rock Clarendon with a free show at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The group, which plays "a funky mix of DC's dance beat and classical music," recently put on a high-energy, eclectic show at Clarendon Day. Don't miss their performance this week at the Church at Clarendon, 1210 N. Highland St. More info here.

Walk and Bike to School Day: Wednesday is International Walk and Bike to School Day, and most Arlington Public Schools are participating. (See a list here.) Local schools have a variety of activities planned along the theme of Ride, Recycle, Reuse and Read — from group rides to rallies to book swaps.

Celebrate Fair Trade: Trade Roots, 5852 Washington Blvd., will celebrate its one-year anniversary this week. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the public is invited to meet Mac McCoy, a founding member of the U.S.-based Fair Trade Organization and the CEO of DZi, a Nepalese-U.S. craft organization known for its felted products. McCoy will talk about fair trade and the craft of felting. More info here.

Right Tree, Right Place: The Arlington County office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension will hold a free public workshop at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to help residents get ready for the 2013 Arlington Tree Distribution later this month.
