Wine & Cheese Tasting at Screwtop, Blues & Brews, 813 Ball and More

Wine & Cheese Tasting at Screwtop: Screwtop Wine Bar & Cheese Shop will host a wine and cheese tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Taste 10 wines and cheese. Registration is $29.99. Screwtop is at 1025 N. Fillmore St. in Arlington. More info here.

Blues & Brews: The Crystal City Business Improvement District, Vorando/Charles E. Smith and the Washington Wine Academy will host Blues & Brews at 5 p.m. Wednesday at 2121 Crystal Drive. Grab some take-out, hit the beer garden and take in local music. More info here.

813 Ball: The Friends of the Library will host a Gatsby-themed fundraising ball at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Artisphere, 1101 Wilson Blvd. Enjoy food, drinks, music, dancing and a silent auction to raise money for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Prizes will be given for the best 1920s attire. More information here.

Strengthening Families: Children age 10 to 14 and families can come together at 6 p.m. Thursday at Williamsburg Middle School in Arlington to talk about building family strengths, resisting negative peer pressure and making things run more smoothly at home. More information here.
