Take a Community PAUSE, Dinner Deals, Barktoberfest and More This Weekend

Five things in and around Arlington to help start your weekend.

Take a Community PAUSE: Studio PAUSE — that's People, Art, Understand, Share and Explore — is hosting a community event from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at its South Arlington studio. "Black and White and Life and Death" features everyday people from the community who will share how they use the poetry, photography, music, food and stories to deal with death and celebrate life. Shirlington Restaurant Week: The third annual Restaurant Week at the Village at Shirlington is going on now and lasts through Sunday! Enjoy two-course lunches for $12 or three-course dinners for $25 at a dozen restaurants in the village. More information here.

Barktoberfest: Dogs and their people can celebrate this fall tradition starting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Arlington's Courthouse community. Thirty bucks get you brats, sauerkraut and a warm jumbo pretzel, and gets your pet dog brew, pretzels and sausages courtesy of Dogma Bakery. A prize will be awarded for the best dog costume. Family-Friendly Oktoberfest: St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church is hosting an Oktoberfest for kids and the whole family starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. The day-long event features food and live entertainment, a yard sale, a pumpkin patch, moon bounces, games and prizes, arts and crafts, and haunted house and a raffle. Questions? Great Falls Art Tour: The Great Falls Studios 10th Annual Art Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Great Falls Community Library, 9830 Georgetown Pike, will serve as the headquarters for the self-guided tour, billed as a driving adventure to studios sprinkled along the roads of Great Falls.More information here.
