March on Washington, Wags n' Whiskers, Rooftop Luau and More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in and around Arlington?

The 50th Anniversary March on Washington Realize the Dream March and Rally: Gather on the National Mall from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The march begins at the Lincoln Memorial and will make its way over to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial for a brief ceremony.

Shirlington Expects Biggest Ever Wags n' Whiskers: The annual street fair for dogs, cats and other pets (plus their owners) will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Shirlington Village. More than 50 vendors are excepted to set up shop for the event, which organizers anticipate will draw 3,000 to 5,000 people.

Central Arlington History Tour: Tour the Clarendon, Ballston, Arlington Forest and Glen Carlyn neighborhoods starting at 9 a.m. Saturday with the Center Hiking Club. For $2, you'll get a 10- to 12-mile walking tour of historic points in central Arlington County. More info here.

Rooftop Luau and Pig-Out at Eventide Restaurant: Eventide Restaurant, 3165 Wilson Blvd., is hosting a Farewell to Summer Pig-Out starting at 1 p.m. Sunday. For $39, you get the all-you-can-eat buffet and a drink ticket good for two. The buffet will feature Hawaiian whole roasted pig, braised pulled chicken, octopus fritters, ceviche, coconut carrot salad, and more. More info here.

Block Party at Bourbon Steak: Bourbon Steak at the Georgetown Four Season's Hotel is hosting a good old-fashioned block party, featuring, what else, Old Fashioneds. For $70 per person (includes tax and gratuity) you can enjoy food, drink and lots of Old Fashioneds. Top mixologists from the city's most popular cocktail spots — like The Gibson and The Occidental — will be mixing up their version of Old Fashioneds in a competition. The party starts at noon Saturday. Tickets are available online.
