GoCouture! Fashion Show in Ballston and Five Other Things to Do This Weekend

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in and around Arlington?

Fashion Show: Get a glimpse of fall trends. The GoCouture! Fashion Show is 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Conference Center at 4301 Wilson Blvd. The social shopping event features style tips from image consultants, mini-boutiques and special performances and giveaways. Run for Rights: Local chapters of Amnesty International are hosting a 5K Run for Rights starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Bluemont Park in Arlington. The event is designed to raise money for human rights work. More info here.

Get Rid of Some Junk: The biannual Arlington Environmental Collection and Recycling Event, or E-CARE, starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 125 S. Old Glebe Road. Bring your household hazardous materials, old bikes, small metal items, clothes, shoes, bed frames and more for safe disposal by Arlington County. More information here.

Tour Your Local Fire Station: All 10 fire stations in Arlington County will host open houses from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for the conclusion of National Fire Prevention Week. Click here to find the station nearest you.

Laugh, for a Change: Enjoy a night of standup comedy Saturday in support of the Northern Virginia chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws at the State Theatre in Falls Church. Nine of DC's hottest young comics will put on a show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5, plus a $5 donation to NOVA-NORML is requested.

Halloween Cookie Decorating: Take the family to Bean Good: The Coffee Pub, 1737 Wilson Blvd., at 2 p.m. Sunday for an afternoon of Halloween cookie decorating. Bean Good will provide the cookies and the icing. You bring the creativity and holiday energy.
