Bar Crawl, Messiah Sing!, Holiday Ice Show, Winter Christmas Festival and More This Weekend

Big Band Christmas: Join Bob Gibson's Big Band for traditional and modern jazz with vocals by Arlington's Maureen McDonnell at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Metro 29 Diner, 4711 Lee Highway.

Messiah Sing!: Sing along to Handel's "Messiah," featuring the well-known "Hallelujah" chorus. The chamber orchestra, choir and soloists are accompanied by the Saint Luke pipe organ. The event is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean. More information here.

Clarendon's Finest Bar Crawl: Dress up in your finest holiday costume and hit the town. The crawl starts at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mister Days, 3100 Clarendon Blvd.More information here.

Check out the Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season concert at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s performance is at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas and Saturday’s performance is at George Mason University's Center for the Arts in Fairfax. This concert features the American Festival Pops Orchestra playing holiday favorites. Purchase tickets online.

Gingerbread House Decorating Class: Fluffy Thoughts, at 1320 Old Chain Bridge Road in McLean, invites you to come decorate a pre-assembled gingerbread house, baked from scratch. The business will provide the candy and icing. Cost: $75 per person, ages 8 and up. The class is 11 a.m. Saturday. More information here.

The Vienna Boys Choir will be in Fairfax this week. They will perform program of classical and popular music that includes traditional Christmas carols, Gregorian chants, songs from around the world, and popular holiday favorites. The performance is at 8 p.m. Friday at the George Mason University Concert Hall, 4400 University Drive in Fairfax. More info.

Christmas Bird Count: Join a naturalist at Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington for the annual Christmas Bird Count. Binoculars will be available. It's at 8 a.m. Saturday. More information here.

Great Falls Studios Holiday Show & Sale: More than 30 members of Great Falls Studios will be on hand for the annual Holiday Show & Sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wolftrap Center for Education, 1645 Trap Road in Vienna. The event is free, and the event announcement promises "everyone will leave with a story." More information here.

'The Shoemaker and the Christmas Elves': Catch a holiday musical based on the classic Grimm fairy tale at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. More information here.

The Winter Christmas Festival at Ticonderoga Farms in Chantilly has hayrides, fire pits, and you can even cut down your own Christmas tree. The sites is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 26469 Ticonderoga Road in Chantilly. More information.
