One Couple, Two Entrées at Sichuan Wok

One couple, Joshua and Kelly Stockstill, are in search of the Best General Tso's Chicken in all of Ballston. Their first stop was at 901 N. Quincy Street at Sichuan Wok.

Every January, people all over the United States set goals for weight loss and healthy eating.  While these New Year’s resolutions are probably abundant across Ballston and Virginia Square, I think it is important to embrace some of the forgotten wonders in our neighborhood.  Namely - Deep Fried Chinese Food. Yes, Ballston.  My beautiful wife and I are on the hunt for the best General Tso’s Chicken that Ballston has to offer.  Granted, I know this month is technically dedicated to healthy eating.  When you read the Saturday Sauté, you can even note a change to the healthy, but for me there is nothing quite like Chinese take-out. I love getting takeout from some of my favorite Chinese restaurants I just don't like the wait. So, instead of waiting minutes for a small box of food that will be gone in a few minutes once I open it, I decided to make my own at home and now, I'll show you how to do it too. In this installment of "Andre Taylor's Tasty Tidbits," I'll show you how to make shrimp fried rice right in your own kitchen! Here's what you will need: 2 cups of steamed rice (white or brown) 2 pounds of peeled and deveined shrimp 2 tablespoons of olive oil 1 small onion 4 tablespoons of soy sauce ½ a cup of sweet peas ½ pound of bean sprouts ½ cup of melted butter 2 eggs (optional) For this recipe, you will definitely need a wok.
