Police: Photos Documenting Domestic Assault Lead to Additional Violence

A 34-year-old Arlington man has been arrested following an alleged domestic dispute over cell phone camera photos of a past alleged domestic dispute. Miguel Angel Diaz Ruiz has been charged with two counts of domestic assault and battery and one count of robbery following an incident in the 900 block of South Buchanan Street in the Barcroft neighborhood. Shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, Diaz Ruiz attacked his girlfriend in an attempt to take her phone, according to the Arlington County Police Department. The two had been arguing about the phone, which contained photographs documenting an alleged previous domestic assault involving Diaz Ruiz attacking the woman, according to police. Diaz Ruiz wanted to delete the photos; the woman did not, …

Arlington Woman, 20, Charged in Domestic Dispute

Woman allegedly stabbed her husband during a fight, according to police.

A 20-year-old Arlington woman has been arrested following a domestic dispute that ended in a stabbing. Shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday, Aliyma Imaan Williams and her husband engaged in a verbal argument at a residence in the 800 block of South Ivy Street in the Arlington Heights community, according to police. The argument escalated and the woman stabbed her husband in the arm with a folding knife. "She didn't cut, she stabbed," Arlington County police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The man was taken to Virginia Hospital Center for treatment. Sternbeck said he was not aware of past domestic calls at the address. The couple does not have any children, he said. Police: Arlington Woman Stabs Boyfriend with Kitchen Knife

A 32-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the arm with a kitchen knife on New Year's Day, according to information the Arlington County Police Department released Wednesday. Griselda Y. Saravia, of Arlington, has been arrested and charged with unlawful wounding. Saravia got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Frederick Street, according to police. The argument escalated and authorities said Saravia stabbed her boyfriend before he was able to break free and call for help. The man was taken to Virginia Hospital Center for treatment of the stab wound. Saravia was released on recognizance with a $7,500 unsecured bond.

Patrick Moran, the son of longtime Democratic congressman Jim Moran, pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to simple assault stemming from a domestic violence incident earlier this month in Washington. Moran, 23, who lives on South Randolph Street in Arlington, also remains under investigation by state and local authorities thanks to a video that surfaced before the November election in which he appears to give advice on how to skirt voter identification laws. Police: Man Charged with Strangling Girlfriend During Fight

A 53-year-old Arlington man has been charged with strangling his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Between 8 and 9:15 p.m. Sunday, William Kennedy and his girlfriend were arguing over Kennedy's son, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The two were at Kennedy's apartment on the 2300 block of South 24th Road when the argument escalated into a physical altercation, Sternbeck said. During the fight, Kennedy choked the woman and wouldn't let her leave the apartment, according to police. He also allegedly prevented her from calling 911. Police eventually were called and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. Police: Arlington Woman Arrested Following Domestic Dispute

A 47-year-old Arlington woman has been arrested and charged with unlawful wounding following a domestic dispute, according to the Arlington County Police Department. At about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, police say Kim Rene Gaines stabbed her boyfriend during a fight. The two were at Gaines' residence, in the 2900 block of South Glebe Road, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Sternbeck did not know what the couple was arguing about. He said during the altercation, Gaines picked up a kitchen knife and cut the man around his face and left arm. "I don't know who you would call the aggressor, but she took extremes by using a weapon," Sternbeck said. The man, who police have not identified, was treated and released from an area hospital.

North Carolina Man Charged in Domestic Dispute

Arlington police arrested a 22-year-old Charlotte, N.C., man this weekend after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend and another woman. Leroy Edouarzin was charged with malicious wounding and two counts of assault and battery. He remained in jail late Monday, according to the Arlington County Sheriff's Office. At about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Edouarzin arrived at the home of his ex-girlfriend in the 3200 block of 24th Street South, which is in the Nauck neighborhood. Edouarzin and the woman are the parents of a toddler, but are no longer in a romantic relationship, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The Arlington County Police Department has accused a 23-year-old woman of attempting to stab her live-in boyfriend with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute this week. Ledys Paola Garces Perez, of Arlington, has been arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding. At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Perez and her boyfriend were having a verbal argument, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. The couple lives together with their toddler in the 1500 block of South George Mason Drive. Sternbeck did not know what they were arguing about. The holidays are supposed to be filled, according to Christmas cards and cheerful carolers, with peace, love, and joy. Allison Smuck, Detective in the McLean District Police Station's Domestic Violence Unit, sees another side to this season. Thanksgiving through New Year's, Det. Smuck and her colleagues field a very noticeable increase in domestic violence related incidents. "As the holidays approach, teenagers come home from college, kids go on break from school, and, for some families, it's hard to deal with it. Alcohol consumption during the holidays also exacerbates everything." Det.
