'Listen to Your Mother' is a live reading of essays on motherhood. The show takes place in Crystal City.
Auditions for "Listen to Your Mother," where participants write and read aloud original essays on motherhood, will take place in February. “The audience relates to the motherhood stories and hears perspectives they had never considered before,” said Kate Coveny Hood, producer for the Washington region’s version of the show. The live reading in celebration of Mother's Day will take place at Crystal City’s Synetic Theater in April. About two dozen versions of the show are performed nationwide. Hood, who lives in Reston, said she organized the regional "Listen to Your Mother" reading after being inspired by Wisconsin blogger Ann Imig, who founded the event. "It wasn’t just putting on a show, it was a community experience,” Hood said. …
