Arlington man charged with robbery following alleged attack.
A 31-year-old man was arrested this weekend after refusing to pay a taxi driver and punching the driver in the face, according to the Arlington County Police Department. At about 2 a.m. Sunday, Christopher Arrington of Arlington was in the back seat of a cab as a customer, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Arrington would not provide the driver with a destination, Sternbeck said. Rather, the man would tell the driver where to turn or which way to go at intersections. Victim was walking near her home Monday evening, according to Arlington police.
A woman had a box cutter held to her throat when she was walking near her home in the Ballston-Virginia Square area this week, according to the Arlington County Police Department. The woman reportedly was approached by an unknown man at about 8 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of North Ninth Street. The man grabbed her, held a box cutter to her throat, and demanded she give him money and a cell phone, according to police. When the woman told the robber she did not have any money, he led her half a block away where another man was standing. The two men took the victim’s iPhone and ran away, according to police. Commonwealth's Attorney's Office: Victims' testimony helped lead to conviction.
Storme Gary Swann, 51, formerly of La Plata, Md., was found guilty this week in Arlington County Circuit Court of two counts of robbery, two counts of abduction and one count of statutory burglary. A jury found Swann guilty Thursday following a three-day trial and recommended a 95-year sentence, according to an Arlington County Police Department news release. On Aug. 14, 2010, Swann forced his way into a hotel room and assaulted, detained and bound two female tourists — a 73-year-old woman and her 51-year-old daughter, both visiting from Canada, the release states. The hotel was in the 2400 block of South Glebe Road. Swann robbed them of cash, jewelry and electronics and sexually assaulted one of them, the release states. Swann's criminal …

The incident occurred at 11 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of S. 23rd St. Two men approached the victim. One was between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. Authorities say a man on his way home from work was approached by two men wearing ski masks who stole his bike, helmet and keys. The man was approached at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Lee Highway, according to the Arlington County Police Department. The robbers assaulted the cyclist and fled in a dark-colored truck. Police say the victim’s belongings were found in the woods not far from where the robbery took place. One suspect is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 150 pounds, and the second suspect is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds.

The following incidents were reported Wednesday by the Arlington County Police Department. Robbery A 33-year-old man was arrested after police said he pushed a man to the ground, kicked him in the chest, and stole his cell phone, according to the Arlington County Police Department. Sorrell Tyree Carter, of Alexandria, was charged with robbery. The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of Four Mile Run Drive, according to police. Carter allegedly accosted the victim where he worked. He was held without bond.
