Copperwood Tavern to Open in Shirlington

Restaurant will feature Virginia moonshines.

The Copperwood Tavern is slated to take the place of the former Bistro Bistro in Shirlington, according to DC Eater. Entrees will include roast chicken, steak, macaroni and cheese, corn casserole and seasonal vegetables. For brunch, Copperwood Tavern will search a seafood brunch. The restaurant will sell 24 craft beers, a large selection of whiskeys and local Virginia moonshines, according to DC Eater. The Copperwood Tavern chef is the same as Irish Whiskey's, Sean McIntosh. The restaurant should open in August.

The Vietnamese restaurant has opened at 4041 Campbell Ave.

Lotus Grill & Noodles, a fine-dining restaurant serving Vietnamese food, has opened in Shirlington Village. “We would like to bring specialty Vietnamese food to the community,” said owner Tony Nguyen, who opened the restaurant last week with his wife, Krista Bui. “There aren’t many Vietnamese places for fine dining.” Nguyen, who immigrated to the United States from Saigon in 1984, opened the business after being an electrical engineer. “I worked for the government for over 12 years and I wanted to change to another career,” he said. “I like to talk to people and meet people instead of just sitting in an office within the four walls.” Nguyen left his job in 2010 after first dipping his toes in the restaurant business as a partner in a …

A new business in Shirlington is offering man's best friends suites, condos and a rooftop play area for when their people are at work or out of town. The Board Hound, 3520 S. Four Mile Run Drive, will tentatively open the first week in January. It's been two years in the making, and General Manager Jessica Ward was excited to talk about the new venture. "Even as a kid, I would find stray dogs and always bring them home and be like, 'Dad, can we keep him?'" she said. Police: Arlington Man Confronts Partiers, Feels Threatened, Fires Shot

A 32-year-old Arlington man was arrested and charged last week after becoming angry with a loud party and firing a handgun into the air, according to information police released Monday. Patrick John Kelley was charged Wednesday night with brandishing a firearm and reckless handling of a firearm. He was released on Thanksgiving on a $3,500 secured bond, according to the Arlington County Sheriff's Office. Kelley lives in an apartment in the 3000 block of South Randolph Street not far from Shirlington Village, according to police. The apartment complex features a courtyard shared by various buildings. When Signature Theatre hosts its annual open house Saturday, expect a few proud whores to show up. Back in March, Arlington County started engaging the public on the question of how Capital Bikeshare, or CaBi, should grow in the long term. After months of public input and feasibility studies, we now have a draft Transit Development Plan for CaBi. The point of the plan, as Arlington County described it, is to “systematically plan for service expansion and improvements in a strategic and fiscally realistic fashion.” With this in mind, the draft plan describes two expansion scenarios. The first is the “constrained expansion,” in which the number of new stations are limited to existing funding. Police: Man Charged with Indecent Exposure in Shirlington

Spokesman: Victim identified attacker to police.

Billy Lollar, 28, of Arlington, has been charged with indecent exposure after an incident in Shirlington this week. Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman leaving a parking garage in the 3000 block of South Randolph Street saw the man exposing himself to her, according to police. Lollar was about 15 to 20 feet away from her, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. It isn't clear if the two know each other or had a prior relationship, he said. The woman entered an adjacent parking garage, called police and waited for officers to arrive. She identified Lollar to the officers, Sternbeck said. Lollar was released Wednesday after posting a $2,000 bond, according to the Arlington County Sheriff's Office.
