Metro Delays, Track Work Scheduled for May 17-19

Work will impact riders on the Red, Orange and Green lines starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through system closing Sunday night.

Metro will perform system rebuilding work on all but one line in the system for the weekend of May 17-19. This weekend's rebuilding work will result in service changes on the Red, Orange and Green lines. Blue or Yellow lines riders can breathe easy, there is no scheduled track work on either line this weekend. Work will impact riders on the Red, Orange, Blue and Yellow lines starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through system closing Sunday night.

Metro will perform system rebuilding work all but one line in the system for the weekend of May 10-12. This weekend's rebuilding work will result in service changes on the Red, Orange, Blue and Yellow lines. Green Line trains will operate normally between Greenbelt and Branch Avenue. Additionally, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. Sunday, two hours early, to accommodate the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Metro will perform system rebuilding work on every line in the system for the weekend of April 26-28. On Sunday, the system will open early to accommodate runners in the Nike Women's Half Marathon. Sunday, Metro will open at 5 a.m. for the Nike Women's Half Marathon and runners can access the start line from Metro Center (Red/Blue/Orange lines), Federal Triangle (Blue/Orange lines) or Archives (Yellow/Green lines). No Metro Work Scheduled for End of Cherry Blossom Festival April 12-14

Metro will not perform scheduled weekend track work during the 2013 Cherry Blossom festival.

This weekend marks the end of Metro's "Break for Blossoms," in which the transit agency has paused scheduled track work to accommodate crowds attending the 2013 Cherry Blossom festival. If you are attending the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, which is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, the closest stations to the parade route are the Navy Memorial on the Yellow and Green lines or Federal Triangle on the Blue and Orange lines. No Metro Work Scheduled for Cherry Blossom Peak Weekend April 5-7

Metro will not perform scheduled weekend track work during the 2013 Cherry Blossom festival.

There will be no scheduled weekend track work on the Metro this weekend, a courtesy to visitors attending the annual Cherry Blossom Festival during what could be the peak bloom this weekend. Metro is halting weekend track work activities through April 14 with the exception of work taking place after 10 p.m. on Sundays, when ridership is expected to be light. Metro will open early Sunday at 5 a.m. to accommodate participants in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run. Don't tell Metro, but they FORGOT to schedule weekend track work. Well, that's not entirely accurate. From March 23 through April 14, Metro is halting weekend track work activities during the Cherry Blossom Festival, with the exception of late Sunday evenings. "While the work we do almost every weekend is necessary to get the system back to a steady state of safety and reliability, we are in a position where we can take a short break to let everyone enjoy the season," Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles said in a press release.
