Yorktown vs Stuart Volleyball Wins Game of the Week

Faceoff wins Patch's weekly National District poll

Yorktown and Stuart High School fans bolstered their volleyball teams this week, helping the Tuesday faceoff win Patch's "Game of the Week" poll for the National District The matchup earned all votes in this week's poll, beating out Falls Church vs Edison, Mt. Vernon vs Washington-Lee, and Wakefield vs Hayfield field hockey games, respectively. Yorktown is 9-5-1 on the season. They've yet to face Stuart, which is 9-6. The game, which starts at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 2,  will be featured on Patch later this week.  Don't forget to tune in again Thursday, when we put the ball in your court to determine the next Patch Game of the Week. Mt. Vernon-Falls Church Field Hockey Wins Game of the Week

Thursday showdown selected from National District matchups to be featured on Patch

Mt. Vernon and Falls Church High School fans bolstered their field hockey teams this week, helping the Thursday faceoff win Patch's  "Game of the Week" poll for the National District. In this week's poll, the matchup beat out cross country meets between Falls Church, Wakefield, Hayfield and Edison and Stuart, Mt.Vernon, Yorktown and Washington-Lee, respectively, and another field hockey matchup between Yorktown and Washington-Lee. Mt. Vernon High (7-2-1) is off to a solid start this season, including a stellar performance in the "Under the Lights" tournament at Lee High School last month. Falls Church High School (1-7-2) posted its single win against Wakefield High on Sept. 6.  The game will be featured on Patch later this week.  Don't …

National District Game of the Week: Falls Church Girls, Yorktown Boys Win Rival Meet

Cross Country meet was the Jaguars' only home meet of the season.

Falls Church High School's girls cross country team and Yorktown High School's boys squad pulled out to a win Wednesday at Falls Church High School. In its only home meet of the season, the Jaguars honored their seniors with a strong performance in the race between Hayfield, Yorktown and JEB Stuart. The Falls Church girls squad, lead by top runner Emily Grabauskas, dominated their meet, taking the top three spots and finishing first overall. Yorktown's Ryan Hart helped lead the boys squad to a first place overall win.
