The Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation will celebrate the renovation of an NCAA-class baseball diamond at Barcroft Park early next month. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. March 2 for the county's first turf diamond field. Barcroft Field No. 6 is one of three county-owned 90-foot baseball diamonds. The renovations were supported by George Washington University, which has used and helped maintain the field for about 20 years, according to Parks and Recreation. The Arlington County Board late Tuesday approved a $2.9 million contract for a substantial renovation of Rocky Run Park in the Clarendon-Courthouse neighborhood. The 2.3-acre park, at the intersection of North Barton and North Fairfax streets, will get a substantial facelift — improvements include new tot and school-aged playground equipment and a picnic shelter at the upper end of the park; two lighted hard-surface courts; a lighted synthetic field; and lawn areas, improved accessibility and "extensive" landscaping, according to a county staff report.
