Arlington Animal Control Reports: Two Robins Freed, Snake Injured

The latest animal control reports from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

According to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington website: Animal Control officers are charged with the enforcement of all state and local laws regarding the welfare, care and control of animals. While such officers have the authority to issue citations, their primary focus is working with residents to help them provide better care. To report an emergency at any time, call 703-931-9241.

Friday, July 26, 200 block of North Fillmore Street: A robin fledgling was caught in the net of a batting cage. An animal control officer freed the robin from the netting and it was released.

Saturday, July 27, 1000 block of Glebe Road: A juvenile rat snake slithered into the sliding door of a cleaning company’s van. An animal control officer removed the snake from the door and noticed that it had a small injury where skin had been removed. The snake was transported to Long Branch Nature Center.

Monday, July 29, 1300 block of North Irving Street: A juvenile robin flew into a resident’s home when they opened the back door. The robin was captured and released outside.
