Blue Sea Seafood Could See March Opening in Shirlington

Blue Sea Seafood and Bar could open next month, chef says.

The Village at Shirlington's restaurant scene is heating up again, with the addition of a new seafood restaurant opening, possibly before the first day of spring.

Blue Sea Seafood and Bar will likely open "in about three weeks," said chef Daniel Marteny, who says he can't wait to get into the kitchen. Marteny, who grew up in nearby Annandale, worked most recently at T.J. Stones in Old Town.

Blue Sea will open up next door to Busboys and Poets on Campbell Drive, where the old Bear Rock Cafe was located.

The Blue Sea menu will feature oysters as well as Cajun crawfish, shrimp, crab, potato and corn. A Blue Sea special will include Étouffée. The restaurant will include a bar serving beer, wine and more. There will likely be outdoor seating.

Blue Sea Seafood and Bar, is owned and managed by a team of seasoned chefs and restaurant owners.
