Arlington Man Accused of Raping Child

Alleged attacks occurred more than once, spokesman says.

A 35-year-old Arlington man has been charged with rape.

Carlos Diaz-Vincente is accused of raping a juvenile victim more than once.

Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said the female victim was "extremely young." Investigators are not releasing any other information about the victim in order to protect her identity, he said.

It was unclear Friday how long Diaz-Vincente is accused of engaging in such acts with the girl.

"It was more than once, and we'll leave it at that," Sternbeck said.

Diaz-Vincente was taken into custody at 11:10 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Thomas Street. He cooperated with officers, Sternbeck said.

He is being held on no bond.

The child was not taken into protective custody. Police have not disclosed any other information. 

The Thomas Street location is between North George Mason Drive and North Glebe, not far from Arlington Boulevard.
