Wakefield Student's Photo Chosen for Arlington Decal

Maya Giacobbe's photo of the historic Hume School was chosen for the 2011-2012 decal.

The 2011-2012 Arlington decal will feature a photo of the historic Hume School, taken by Wakefield student, junior Maya Giacobbe. Giacobbe's entry, "Hume, Sweet Hume," will go on more than 155,000 Arlington cars.

The design competition was open to Arlington high school students. There were 24 entries that were voted on and narrowed down to four by Arlington residents. 

The other finalists were: fellow Wakefield junior Lizzi Alarcon, Yorktown freshman Jeremy Cannon and Wakefield senior Kate Tsagronis.

"We are very pleased with all the truly excellent designs that the students submitted, this year.  The winner of this competition is going to have much to be proud of," says Arlington County Treasurer Frank O'Leary in the press release

All four finalists received a $500 savings bond from Wachovia.
