Arlington Animal Control Reports: Injured Bat, Opossum Wanders in Restaurant and More
According to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington website: Animal Control officers are charged with the enforcement of all state and local laws regarding the welfare, care and control of animals. While such officers have the authority to issue citations, their primary focus is working with residents to help them provide better care. To report an emergency at any time, call 703-931-9241.

Thursday, Aug. 29, 1200 block of North Veitch Street: A bat was found in an apartment with a torn wing. An animal control officer removed the bat and the bat was sent to a wildlife rehabilitator to heal.

Thursday, Aug. 29, 1900 block of Clarendon Boulevard: A restaurant left its back kitchen door open and an opossum wandered in. An animal control officer removed the opossum and released it at a nearby park.
Friday, Aug. 30, 4900 block Old Dominion Drive: Arlington residents were sitting in their backyard with their door propped open and a juvenile cotton tail rabbit hopped into their home and hid under the kitchen counter tops. An animal control officer responded and set a trap for the rabbit. The rabbit was trapped and released outside.
