Vulture Fledgling Rescued in Ballston, Elderly Dog Returned to Owner in Williamsburg

The latest animal control reports from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

According to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington website: Animal Control officers are charged with the enforcement of all state and local laws regarding the welfare, care and control of animals. While such officers have the authority to issue citations, their primary focus is working with residents to help them provide better care. To report an emergency at any time, call 703-931-9241.

Friday, Sept. 6, 900 block North Stuart Street: A vulture fledgling was found on the ground in an unsafe area. An animal control officer picked up the bird. It was held at the shelter overnight and then sent to a rehabilitator.

Monday, Sept. 9, 3600 block of North Harrison Street:  An elderly dog was found running loose in poor condition. The dog was picked up by an animal control officer and received medical care. The dog was returned to her distraught owner later that day.
